Craig Key was born in 1965 in the rural town of Chandler, Oklahoma, where he was raised. After graduating from the University of Oklahoma with a double major in Law Enforcement Administration and History, then a Juris Doctor Degree, he built a successful law practice in his home town.
At 36, Key was a well-respected attorney, and faced a promising career on the bench once elected Associate District Judge of Lincoln County, Oklahoma.
He was sworn in on January 13, 2003, and as a young, highly-respected judge, his progressive approach to dealing with substance abuse issues, domestic violence victims and offenders, and abused and neglected children already had some considering him as Supreme Court material.
However, he was destined to cross paths with a young girl whose fate was placed in his hands. At the tender age of two and a half, Kelsey Smith-Briggs had been fought over time and again in a bitter custody battle intertwined with allegations of abuse and close scrutiny by the Department of Human Services. Judge Key placed Kelsey back in her mother's home after she completed the Department of Human Service's required treatment plan. Less than four months after Kelsey was returned, she was murdered by an unknown abuser. Judge Key faced media and public scrutiny for the death of Kelsey, which ultimately ended his judicial career.
In this book, Key includes facts never revealed until now, so that you can be the judge in this murder mystery for which the murderer of little Kelsey will never face a jury.
